Copycat Candidates?

Mary Ann Akers at the Washington Post (who looks surprisingly like Tina Fey) discusses in this post allegations by the Edwards campaign that Barack Obama stole the line "We need a president not afraid to use the word 'union.'" from them.

Well, Illiac Dendral is not afraid to say the word "union", but that hardly matters. When was the last time unions were a serious force in American politics anyway? 1960? The amount of market share unions possess these days has slipped enormously since the heyday of the union movement. What's astonishing is that Obama and Edwards feel they need to brawl over the union vote. Seriously? That's what you guys are going to spend your energy on?

Mr. Dendral believes that there are more important things with which to concern ourselves. The environment, the War in Iraq, international terrorism, technological advances, the economy--and Edwards and Obama choose to squabble over who's more pro-union. Once again, the paucity of disparate views in the political process indicates the need for an independent candidate. A candidate who stands out from the pack. A candidate who is not beholden to yesterday's interest groups, and so is free to address tomorrow's problems. In short, a candidate like Illiac Babbage Dendral.

Can A Digito-American Win The Presidency?

Well, that's the big question, isn't it? We've had nothing but white male carbonaceous-Americans since the founding. Does this mean that a digito-American can't win? First, let me state that I'm not going to accuse anyone of being prejudiced against digito-Americans if they choose not to support Mr. Dendral. This is a free country; if people do not agree with Mr. Dendral's policies, that is their right. However, I would hope people would oppose him because they disagree with him, not because he wasn't "born" in the traditional sense. This is the twenty-first century; who's to say that we can't have a digito-American in the White House? Mr. Dendral is a fine man, and I think he will make a fine President.

Having said that, it's impossible to deny the lingering carbonism present in American society. Even as recently as 1999, it was possible to make a blockbuster movie in which digito-Americans (and apparently digito-Australians) were cast as the villains solely because they were digital.

This blatant carbonism is completely unacceptable. Mr. Dendral stands foursquare against this sort of reprehensible bigotry, and maintains a firm commitment to advance digital rights wherever they are threatened.

Coming Soon: Politics in the Internet Age

Mr. Dendral's second book, Politics in the Internet Age, will be published in November 2007. As the title suggests, it is Mr. Dendral's look at how politics has changed since the advent of the Internet, and how politicians can fully integrate the Web into their campaigns and government. Some advance reviews:

"...a fresh new voice on the political scene, I. B. Dendral hopes to change the way in which politicians go about the business of convincing voters to support them and of governing increasingly technologically-sophisticated electorates. Concise, witty, and at times profound, Politics in the Internet Age is a must-read for any politics buff."
--The Chicago Tribune

"...Illiac Dendral's first book nearly put me to sleep; his second book I could barely put down. Reviewing lengthy tomes about the nature of consciousness is (no offense, Illi) not exactly the best way to spend a Saturday afternoon, but pithy pitches that act as a short, sharp shock to our increasingly nineteenth century political system? Sign me right up."
--Slashdot

"...indispensible for any serious candidate in 2008..."
--The New York Times

On Why We Use Blogger

Well, Mr. Dendral's right; I will try to keep on top of the news (and with luck, keep on topic--no cat blogging here!)

But you may be wondering: why is a forward, right-thinking, professional candidate like Mr. Dendral using Blogger to host his blog? Why not his own site? Well, unfortunately we haven't gotten the Dendral for President main site launched yet--a candidate is always busy, and so is his staff. As soon as we do launch it, this blog will move over, and we'll have streaming content and near-continuous updates.

Welcome, Part 2

Thank you, John, for that wonderful introduction. It's great to have such committed, enthusiastic people on my staff. All too often, we Americans become cynical about politics. Certainly, the last several years have not been kind to political idealists. But it's always heartening to meet wonderful, intelligent people like John MacEmbry and the others on the Dendral campaign staff. I have full confidence that Mr. MacEmbry will represent me on this webpage to the very best of his ability. Unfortunately, the time constraints of campaigning preclude me from posting too often myself, but I will make every effort to add "my own two cents" to this webpage when possible. I just hope John doesn't mind; I don't want to steal his thunder!

As John said, please keep a close eye on this site, as I am sure John will continue to post interesting political and campaign news.

All the best to my supporters, and to the rest of America,
I. B. Dendral
